Persecuted for empowering young people

Geraldine Chacon works for an organisation which empowers young people in some of the poorest area of Caracas. In Februrary 2018, she was arrested by armed officials. The authorities wrongly linked her with “resistance” groups they accused of organising violent anti-government demonstrations. Although she was conditionally released in June, she can’t leave the country and her case is still open - so she could be arrested again at anytime for no reason.
